Letter from the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the newly appointed principal for Holy Cross Catholic School. I have been at Holy Cross for several years and love that I know so many of the students and their families. Most of you are aware that I was the Kindergarten teacher for a long period of time and this year, I assisted the teachers as an Instructional Coach before transitioning into the principal position.
I have been dedicated to the field of education for twenty years which includes serving in both the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas and Diocese of Phoenix teaching grade levels Kindergarten through eighth grade. I received my bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Kansas State University. I hold a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction and am currently enrolled in a Doctoral program at the University of Kansas working towards a degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. I am passionate about education and am always looking to expand my understanding of best practices to better serve the children I am fortunate to be with each day.
My husband and I live in Olathe with our three children, our son is in the first grade here at Holy Cross and our girls are in the EEC. We chose Holy Cross because we love the incredible faith-filled education Holy Cross provides for our children.
Holy Cross is one of the most amazing communities. The love and support within this community is precisely why I am dedicated to making our school the best school for all our children. Now more than ever I pray we embrace one another and continue to grow our love for our school and grow in our faith. We are united in our faith and as one family. We are HOLY CROSS!
As I begin this new journey, I would ask that we all reflect on a quote from Mother Teresa, “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten we belong to each other”. I pray we, as the people of Holy Cross, all find peace and remember that we are all on this journey together.
Peace and Blessings,
Mrs. Melissa Wagner M.Ed
