"The Hour of Code is designed to demystify code and show that computer science is not rocket science—anybody can learn the basics," said Hadi Partovi, founder and CEO of Code.org. "Over 100 million students worldwide have tried an Hour of Code. The demand for relevant 21st-century computer science education crosses all borders and knows no boundaries."
This month, ALL Holy Cross students kindergarten through 8th grade particpated in the 2023 Hour of Code. Kindergarten and 1st grade started coding with puzzles, 2nd and 3rd graders coded with Minecraft, 4th and 5th graders coded their own Dance Party, while 6th, 7th and 8th grade worked in Hello, World and then practiced typing Javascript in a Star Wars program. Thousands of lines of code were written by our students!
Students, let's keep coding! Coding builds problem-solving skills and increases digital literacy. Parents, every student has their own account in www.code.org, which can be accessed when they are signed in to their Holy Cross Google account. Students are encouraged to work ahead in their assigned programs within www.code.org, they are also welcome to explore and work in code.org projects.
