4th graders created their own turtles using recycled materials as part of a study of creation stories. They began with the two Genesis narratives and then read several Native American myths. 4th graders noticed similar elements of light, water, land, plants, animals, humans, and tied these to the five spheres in science. The turtles represent an Onondaga myth called Earth on Turtle's Back.
